APPSC / TGPSC Junior Lecturer and Degree Lecturer Coaching (Botany and Zoology) | Chandu Biology Classes

Preparing for Junior Lecturer (JL) or Degree Lecturer (DL) positions in Botany or Zoology, in Andhra Pradesh through APPSC or in Telangana through TGPSC? Chandu Biology Classes offers dedicated coaching for both, available online to students anywhere in India and offline at our Hyderabad center, built around each exam’s actual structure by faculty who specialize exclusively in Life Sciences.

Important: APPSC and TGPSC Are Separate Commissions With Real Differences

Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC, also seen written as TSPSC, same body) are two separate state commissions. While the underlying subject preparation in Botany and Zoology overlaps substantially, and our coaching serves aspirants targeting either state, there are genuine differences in exam structure that matter for your preparation:

  • Selection process differs. APPSC currently uses a single Computer-Based Test with two papers, followed by a Computer Proficiency Test and document verification. TGPSC’s process (particularly for Degree Lecturer recruitment, often administered through the Telangana Residential Educational Institutions Recruitment Board, TREIRB) has used a Prelims and Mains two-stage written exam structure.
  • General Studies content differs. APPSC’s Paper 1 emphasizes Andhra Pradesh-specific history, geography, and current affairs. TGPSC’s equivalent paper emphasizes Telangana-specific history, geography, the Telangana statehood movement, and Telangana current affairs.
  • Administering structure differs. In Telangana, general Degree Lecturer recruitment has sometimes gone through TREIRB rather than TGPSC directly, and TGPSC has separately run recruitment for specific categories like DIET (District Institute of Education and Training) college lecturers, which is a distinct track from general Government Degree College recruitment.

Given these real differences, always confirm the current, specific notification for your target state directly on the official website (psc.ap.gov.in for APPSC, tgpsc.gov.in for TGPSC, or treirb.cgg.gov.in for TREIRB-administered Telangana Degree Lecturer recruitment) rather than assuming one state’s process applies to the other.

About the Posts: Junior Lecturer and Degree Lecturer

Junior Lecturer (JL): Teaching positions in Government Junior Colleges (Intermediate education, roughly classes 11 and 12).

Degree Lecturer (DL) / Lecturer: Teaching positions in Government Degree Colleges. Officially, APPSC notifications typically use the term “Lecturer” rather than “Degree Lecturer,” though “DL” is the common informal usage among coaching institutes and candidates in both states.

APPSC (Andhra Pradesh): Verified Details

Recent recruitment context: The 2026 cycle saw approximately 290 Junior Lecturer and 47 Lecturer vacancies announced across subjects including Botany and Zoology, with the written CBT exam conducted from 16 to 26 June 2026.

Eligibility, Junior Lecturer: A Master’s degree (Second Class or above, minimum 50% marks) in the relevant subject from a UGC-recognized university. Age 18 to 42 years, with standard reserved-category relaxations.

Eligibility, Lecturer: A Master’s degree in the relevant subject, plus a valid NET or SET certificate, which is mandatory for this post (unlike Junior Lecturer, which does not require it). Age limit has varied slightly across cycles (commonly cited between 39 and 42 years), so confirm the current notification. Andhra Pradesh domicile is generally required for local reservation benefits.

Selection process: Written CBT exam (Paper 1, General Studies and Mental Ability with AP-specific content; Paper 2, your subject), followed by a Computer Proficiency Test and document verification.

An important, often-missed detail: Junior Lecturer’s subject paper is tested at PG level, while Lecturer’s subject paper is tested at Degree level, despite JL being the “junior” post. JL aspirants should prepare their subject at a deeper academic level than Lecturer’s subject paper technically demands.

TGPSC (Telangana): What We Know, and What to Verify Directly

TGPSC’s structure for general Junior Lecturer and Degree Lecturer recruitment (across subjects including Botany and Zoology, in regular Government Junior and Degree Colleges) should be confirmed against the current, specific notification, since recent TGPSC and TREIRB postings have covered more specific categories (Polytechnic Lecturer, DIET Lecturer) rather than a single unified general-subject cycle at the time of writing. What is consistently confirmed:

  • General Studies paper content is Telangana-specific, covering Telangana geography, the Telangana statehood movement, and Telangana-focused current affairs and history, distinct from APPSC’s AP-focused content
  • Age limits have run somewhat higher in some TGPSC recruitment categories (up to 44 years in at least one recent cycle), though this varies by specific post and notification
  • Degree Lecturer recruitment in Telangana has often been administered through TREIRB, so watch for notifications on treirb.cgg.gov.in specifically, not only tgpsc.gov.in

We update our TGPSC-specific guidance as each notification is released, since Telangana’s recruitment structure across different boards and categories has shown more variation cycle to cycle than APPSC’s.

Why Choose Chandu Biology Classes for JL and DL (Botany/Zoology)

We specialize exclusively in Life Sciences, so our Botany and Zoology coverage comes from faculty with genuine subject depth, not generalist competitive-exam tutors. We calibrate preparation depth to your specific target, PG-level depth for APPSC Junior Lecturer, Degree-level plus NET/SET-aligned preparation for APPSC Lecturer, and we track TGPSC’s evolving notification structure to guide Telangana-track aspirants accurately rather than assuming it mirrors APPSC.

Because we teach entirely online in addition to our Hyderabad classroom, students preparing for either state’s exam get the same faculty, study material, and test series regardless of location.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the APPSC and TGPSC JL/DL exam the same? No. They are separate state commissions with different General Studies content (Andhra Pradesh-specific versus Telangana-specific), and their selection processes have differed in structure. Always confirm the current notification for your target state.

What is the difference between Junior Lecturer and Degree Lecturer? Junior Lecturer positions are in Government Junior Colleges; Degree Lecturer (officially “Lecturer” under APPSC) positions are in Government Degree Colleges. Under APPSC, Junior Lecturer does not require NET/SET, while Lecturer does, and despite being the “junior” post, JL’s subject paper is tested at PG level versus Lecturer’s Degree level.

Do I need NET or SET? For APPSC Lecturer, yes, it’s mandatory. For APPSC Junior Lecturer, no. For TGPSC, confirm against the current specific notification, since requirements can vary by post category.

What subjects does Chandu Biology Classes cover? We specialize in Botany and Zoology specifically, reflecting our Life Sciences focus.

Do you offer both online and offline coaching? Yes, offline classroom coaching in Hyderabad at 30,000 rupees, and online coaching at 25,000 rupees, both covering Botany or Zoology plus General Studies preparation calibrated to your target state and post.

Where can I check the current official notification? For APPSC, psc.ap.gov.in. For TGPSC, tgpsc.gov.in. For TREIRB-administered Telangana Degree Lecturer recruitment specifically, treirb.cgg.gov.in.
