The Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) is a national-level entrance examination conducted to assess the eligibility of bonafide Indian nationals for admission to DBT-supported Postgraduate Programs in Biotechnology and allied sciences at participating institutions and universities. Administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA), this examination opens doors to some of India’s most prestigious biotechnology programs.
Students clearing GAT-B 2026 or 2027 can secure admission to:
Candidates selected for DBT-supported PG programs through GAT-B receive a monthly stipend ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹12,000, depending on the institute, making it an attractive option for bright students seeking quality education with financial support.
For GAT-B 2026:
At Chandu Biology Classes, we’re already preparing students for both 2026 and 2027 batches, ensuring they have ample time to master every concept and excel in the examination.
Before enrolling in our coaching programs, ensure you meet the GAT-B eligibility requirements:
Candidates must have completed or be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology or allied fields, such as Life Sciences, Microbiology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, etc.
Candidates must have secured at least 60% aggregate marks (or equivalent CGPA). For reserved categories like SC/ST/PwD, 55% is acceptable.
One of the great things about GAT-B is that there is no upper age limit for candidates appearing in the exam. There is also no restriction on the number of attempts, allowing students to appear multiple times until they achieve their desired score.
Only bonafide Indian nationals are eligible to apply for the GAT-B entrance examination.
Understanding the exam pattern is crucial for strategic preparation. At Chandu Biology Classes, we ensure every student masters the format before appearing for the actual examination.
Section A will have 60 compulsory multiple choice questions of the level of 10+2 in the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Each correct answer is of One (1) mark. There will be negative marking and for each wrong answer, Half (1/2 or 0.5) mark will be deducted.
Key Characteristics:
Section B will have multiple-choice questions of Bachelor’s (Graduate) level requiring thinking and analysis. There will be questions from Basic Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology and allied areas. There will be 100 questions out of which candidates will have to attempt 60 questions. Each correct answer is of Three (3) marks. There will be negative marking and for each wrong answer, One (1) mark will be deducted.
Key Characteristics:
Strategic Advantage: The flexibility to choose questions in Section B is a game-changer. Our expert faculty at Chandu Biology Classes trains students to identify and attempt questions they’re most confident about, maximizing their scoring potential.
